ENERGY EFFICIENCY

        1) In November and December 2009 we replaced Fixtures and Bulbs to make the switch from inefficient Incandescent Lighting to Compact Flourescent Lighting through 80% of the Restaurant.  Most of the remaining Lighting is Flourescent (still more efficient than incandescent).  We reduced our estimated Kilowatt usage by more than 60%. 


LOCAL SOURCING

        1) This year we have been paying closer attention to the Origins of the Products that we buy on a daily basis.  Not only does buying from local vendors reduce the amount of fossil fuels expended, but we strongly believe in spending in our local Economy first.  Some examples of this are:
                               -Bread-manufactured in Scranton, PA
                               -Pastry-manufactured in Moosic, PA
                               -Soda/ Beverage-maufactured in Williamsport, PA
                               -Mushrooms-grown outside Reading, PA



RECYCLING

        1) In addition to being part of our Community Recycling Program for Glass, Plastic, Steel,  Aluminum, and Cardboard, Marvelous Muggs Recycles Fry Oil through a third party, and has local Business people who re-use food packaging (such as Pickle Buckets, and Gallon Dressing Containers).
        2) An Important Part of Recycling is Re-Use.  Our To-Go Food Containers are plastic, however they are dishwasher safe and re-usable as storage containers (and work very well for many repeated uses).


WASTE REDUCTION


        1) We have converted from disposable paper towels to 100% Cotton re-usable laundered towels, for use in the Kitchen.

        2) All Paper  Towel Dispensers in Restrooms and for Handsinks in Kitchen automatically dispense 16 inches of towel per use, limiting wasteful usage.

        3) All Toilets and Sinks automatically operate, limiting water waste.
